An international tender in 2012 for the construction of a new international airport in Ashgabat, to be named "Oguz Han" was won by Polimeks. Our contribution includes review utility master planning, concept design of special operational systems, telecommunications, security systems, apron systems and navigational aids and the detailed design of airfield ground lighting and apron floodlighting.

Ashgabat International airport has had a major transformation into a state-of-the-art airport to respond to the rapidly growing domestic and international passenger traffic in Turkmenistan.The design of the new terminal building was inspired by the national symbols of Turkmenistan and can host 14 million passengers a year to IATA Class A service standards with a total enclosed area of 161,851 m².NACO was commissioned by a contractor, Polimeks Insaat in Turkey, to develop the basic design for the Terminal Building and other buildings, detailed design for the airfield infrastructure and tender specifications for special equipment as part of a design and build contract.During the design process, NACO took the advisory role on design options and made recommendations for improvement and value engineering with 3D-modellingsoftware.The design of the Airfield fully complies with the ICAO standards (2014-2015) and was approved by Ministry of Construction and Architecture. Polimeks is a Turkish construction company active in Turkmenistan since the late-1990s.

The creation of this airport is seen as a key strategic step to connect to the global economy.The Turkmen government views the development of the airport as a key strategic development to connect Turkmenistan with the global economy. The three-legged arch, which became known locally as "The Tripod", was 75 metres (246 ft) tall and was built in 1998 on the orders of Turkmenistan's President Saparmurat Niyazov to commemorate the country's official position of neutrality.

Recently released, the new publication, Jewel Changi Airport, is now available.⁠ In the book, Safdie Architects and key collaborators expand upon the genesis of the design and the immense technical challenges faced while executing the project. The airport is an ode to the nation’s strong focus on striking architecture. Deerns complemented the design team with expertise on specific airport technology. The new development will include an approximate 650,000-SF terminal of 30 Group III contact gates, which will ultimately be expanded to 42 gates.
