Fully cleaned the worn (measured and not at all stretched) original chain thoroughly. Is this just a cheap version of the X9 that is being substituted? I actually ordered a Shimano Ultegra/Deore XT chain first but it would not work correctly.
No such luck with the 11 speed link. Photos on the web shows XSP stamped on the link plates of the X9.99.
I think that KMC produces a quality product at a pretty reasonable price.
Tried Shimano and is also great, but color is darker, so doesn't look as clean as this. I had a KMC chain on an old bike with an Ultegra 10 speed setup and road it for years with no issues. This new X9 just shows KMC and X9. KMC’s X10SL chain hits on two of the three points. Two reasons. It was delivered on time and in perfect condition! It was shifting fine on the maintenance stand and seemed like a good value. Nowhere on the package does it say KMC X9.99. We stock a range of KMC chains for single speed up to 11-speed drivetrains. Additionally, I was not putting any manner of hard strain on the drive train at the time.Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2017 I tried soaking it overnight in an oil bath but it did not help at all.

Did a return and replace and got the same thing. I walked it home, put the old Shimano chain back on and went for my ride without any other issues. But this X9.99 chain is fully nickel plated, has inner and outer chamfering and is fully heat treated to resist stretch. We are thrilled to hear that you found this chain to be a great buy, and very smooth while riding. I was finally able to take the bike for a ride this morning and when I attempted to make my first shift, the chain came off. I currently use this with a 1x11 SRAM PG 1130 cassette, X01 derailleur, and Wolf Tooth 34T ring for mountain biking Smooth speed changes. Though rollers are loose, with an application of new Finish Line Ceramic / Wax based lubricant, got another season from my original KMC and will install this new upgraded model for the fall rides. SRAM chains use the same principle which also makes removal easy, too.
