This year I rented a jet ski....er.....personal watercraft. Shaver Lake is just 45 miles from the Fresno and Clovis communities in the San Joaquin Valley. Very polite and professional, we appreciate that especially after having a bad experience at the Shaver lake Watersports rental years ago.I've been coming to this lake for a long time and have rented from all of the marinas. It cost $200 for 5 hours of great fun. Slowed the transaction down by at least 5 minutes or longer. Easy in easy out! The dock people and the office staff are great to deal with....very efficient and friendly. I tried throughout the afternoon and then again after I got home from work with no success.

Families crowded alongside one another on the banks (no socialWhen we stopped at the Lake in February there was lot of fresh snow around and even the lake was partially frozen. Rent one of the three pontoon boats available to you. We also got a raft from the marina to tow behind the boat which was fun. I had my boat in a slip for 3 days and everyday the staff was super friendly, highly attentive, had tons of hustle and very knowledgeable on any situation that came up. I called the next day and for the following three days, similar to a jilted ex girlfriend...The day we went to Shaver Lake Marina, the employees there were awesome.

At least for an hour you should plan to travel during Mid Day as you will question yourself that you are in Grand Canyon. The boats leave our dock with a full tank of gas and must be returned with a full tank. You must be 18-years of age and have a valid driver’s license to rent any gas powered unit. The restrooms have a horrible smell and the roads are so rocky you literally have to own a truck to drive through.
We took the Pontoon boat out the first day and we cruised around the lake and had a BBQ on the boat, it was a perfect day and the boat was in good condition and we had no issues at all. We take reservations by phone only. Shaver Lake Marina offers an extensive rental fleet including Pontoon Boats, Fishing Boats, Waverunners, Kayaks, Canoes, Stand Up Paddle Boards and more for any type of fun you desire on the lake. Much better service and kinder employees!Shaver lake is fun to visit but when you are charged $8 per car you would expect the restrooms to be clean or a paved road to drive on. Our preferred marina was full so we called shaver marina and had used them in the past and were relatively satisfied. The only problem I had was that the only way down to the marina by foot is treacherous, and should have either some wooden steps put in, or even a rock stepping stone stairway.
Since the lake opened we've been swamped so if the line is busy, please keep trying. one of the central valley’s national treasures, at an elevation above 5,000', visitors of shaver lake can enjoy a diverse selection of outdoor recreational activities.

There was a $30 fee for gas that allowed you to refuel as many times as needed throughout the day.
The old store/restaurant and rental cabins are being refurbished, and will hopefully be open by next season.These guys and gals were kind and on top of it!! Please make these improvements.Updating my previous review - beware if you reserve equipment ahead of time they require a credit card number, the problem is that they write your credit card number down on a reservation slip - it's not stored in a secure system, just filed away manually where any number of people can see it. its an awesome destination in California for a two day trip ( Weekend Trip) The road trip will make you admire.
